Channels coordinate around one campaign, goal, offer and core message.
Customer interactions connect across channels, reducing repetition and friction.
A bookstore runs a Facebook campaign and matching YouTube content. That is campaign integration. If a customer then enquires on WhatsApp and the team can continue the conversation with the relevant context, the experience becomes more omnichannel.
Important: Omnichannel does not mean being present on every platform. It means connecting the channels that matter to your customers.
“Grow all social media accounts.”
“Increase qualified WhatsApp enquiries for available books over the next 30 days, while tracking how many enquiries become orders.”
Why? Different goals require different messages, channel roles, budgets and KPIs.
Introduce the product, attract relevant attention and create interest through useful content.
Explain the story, demonstrate value and answer more detailed questions.
Help people find accurate information when they actively search for a product or solution.
Handle enquiries, confirm relevant details, follow up appropriately and track orders.
Remember: These are possible roles, not fixed rules. Assign channels according to audience behaviour, your resources and evidence from actual results.
Keep the campaign promise, offer, brand identity and call to action consistent. Adapt the format and depth to the platform.
Facebook promotes one offer, a video mentions another, and WhatsApp gives a third answer.
A Reel introduces the offer, a carousel explains it, and WhatsApp answers questions about the same offer.
Before launch: Verify price, eligibility, dates, availability, delivery terms and the exact action customers should take.
Use a consistent product name or campaign reference, record the enquiry source where practical, and make the next step clear. Staff should not have to ask the customer to repeat information unnecessarily.
Watch out: Do not promise that customer information automatically transfers between platforms unless you have actually implemented and tested that connection.
Example: introduce a curated book collection, show who each book suits, answer price and delivery questions, then direct interested readers to enquire about availability.
Watch out: Do not bombard every audience with the same message. Use relevant sequencing, sensible frequency and consent-aware follow-up.
500 campaign visits → 40 enquiries → 10 orders.
Visit-to-enquiry rate = 40 ÷ 500 × 100 = 8%.
Enquiry-to-order rate = 10 ÷ 40 × 100 = 25%.
Use consistent campaign links, UTM parameters where suitable, CRM records and order tracking to understand the customer journey. Attribution can be imperfect when people switch devices or channels.
Launching everywhere without enough time, budget or operational support.
Start with a small number of channels that can move the customer towards the goal.
Enquiries are lost, staff repeat questions and follow-ups are missed.
Define ownership, record essential context and document the next action.
Celebrating reach without knowing whether the campaign helped the business.
Connect campaign activity to enquiries, orders, revenue or retention.
